Salmonella infections are a concern due to their potential to cause severe health issues, prompting the recall as a preventative measure. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that around 1.35 million cases of salmonella infection occur annually in the United States, resulting in approximately 26,500 hospitalizations and 420 deaths. As of now, Quaker Oats is taking proactive steps to address the situation and ensure consumer safety.
